About His Place
His Place had its beginnings in 1997 in the home of Paul and Darlene O’Brien, by a few young people who came to them asking some spiritual questions. After the first week they kept coming, and it evolved into a regular Sunday night bible study group. Darlene was the one and only teacher in the early years, and it was through her that God began to form a ministry out of her desire to teach eager Christians seeking honest spiritual answers.
Over the years, the group changed; some people dropped off, and new ones came, and Paul and Darlene changed as well. In 1998, after going through an extremely difficult time in their own personal and spiritual lives, they came to understand the truths of knowing their identity in Christ, and recognized their need for complete dependence on the life of Jesus Who dwells within all believers.
In 2005, from the continuation of the Sunday night studies, and in the New Covenant truths, His Place Ministries was born, and continues to grow and minister. Both Paul and Darlene teach various bible studies, as well as Greg Ballard. Greg, with his wife, Meagen are also partners in His Place Ministries. Greg demonstrates a maturity in Christ as well as bringing his own unique style, which is appreciated by many students.
In 2008 His Place Ministries is excited to introduce another fine teacher, Matt Birtch. In the last six years, through studying and through his own unique hardships, Matt has come to understand and experience life in Christ as never before.
At present, students of many and varied ages come and learn the grace-life teachings that are found throughout the whole Word of God.
Teaching
His Place Ministries is all about teaching the complete Word of God to believers who have a desire to grow in the truths of New Covenant Grace, discover the believer’s identity in Christ, and experience the indwelling Life of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a deliberate emphasis on these truths in all the teaching. HPM presents a formal style of teaching in a warm home setting, where time is made for lots of fellowship and even some good food. For most courses, study notes are given and the study is accompanied by a power point presentation. HPM does not charge a fee for any of its courses, but relies on the faithfulness of God who places the desire to give on the hearts of many who are ministered to by the teaching.
The desire of HPM is that participants would “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18), while experiencing the freedom that, “there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1).
Discipleship Counseling
HPM also provides one-on-one discipleship counseling for those who have been emotionally broken or beat up by life, and are having difficulty experiencing the freedom and joy that Christ has provided them. We point them to the One who was broken for them, as the One whom they need to depend upon, not only to carry them through their difficulty, but also to change them and heal them as a result of the process. HPM maintains the no-fee policy, as Father has directed.
About Our Name
Whenever any group of believers is gathered together in one location, that location becomes “His Place”. That in itself is a true and heart-warming concept. But much beyond that, we recognize that the truth of Colossians 1:27 “…Christ in you, the hope of glory” makes the heart of every believer “His Place”.
The hope of HPM is that those who come will experience the wonderful life and love of the Lord Jesus Christ through all those who participate.
We who lead HPM, are overwhelmingly thankful to Father for allowing us to participate in His work.
The HPM Board of Trustees is comprised of:
- Paul O’Brien
- Greg Ballard
- Terry Meyer
- Matt Birtch
Darlene O’Brien is the Director of Operations of HPM.
His Place Ministries is a government-registered charitable organization, and exists solely on the basis of donations to the ministry, as God places it upon people’s hearts to give. Receipts for giving will be issued following each fiscal year-end (Dec. 31st).
